WSDG Meets with Development Officials in Mongolia; Discuss Cooperation

Waterloo Sustainable Development Group’s Chief Community Development Officer, Nicole Maynard-Li met with Tsolmon Enkhbayar, Director of the Urban Development Resource Centre (UDRC) in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia to discuss current and future plans for the country’s capital, to begin re-developing its ger districts. The capital has been experiencing a multitude of problems in its ger districts; residential settlement areas along the outskirts of the city consisting of one or more ger’s per family surrounded by fencing, and both the government and international NGOs have joined forces to plan local initiatives focused on sustainable re-development. WSDG Participates in the Province of Ontario 100% Renewable Energy Open House

Waterloo Sustainable Development Group’s Chief Strategy Officer Ian Chow has participated in Ontario’s “100% Renewable Energy Open House” consultation event, which discussed the Ministry of Environment’s long term energy plan. The event is one of 17 consultations the province is hosting as part of its consultation process on how to switch to a 100% renewable energy reliance. WSDG Attends Toronto’s Green Business Forum, Meets with OSEA

WSDG’s CEO Tarek Alfarra and CSO Ian Chow took part in Toronto City Hall’s and GTAA Partners in Project Green’s “Green Business Forum” that was held at Toronto City Hall on Wednesday. The Forum, which saw the participation of a number of Ontario based sustainability-driven enterprises emphasized how adopting a green philosophy and approach benefits not only the environment, but is also good for business.
